What makes these chocolate chip biscuits different from any other? Pudding mix, which you can find at the supermarket.


Serves: 36 

  • 250g shortening, butter or margarine
  • 1 cup (200g) white sugar
  • 3/4 cup (165g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 (100g) packet instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon bicarb soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 340g chocolate chips

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. In a large mixing bowl cream the shortening with the white and brown sugars. Stir in the instant vanilla pudding mix. Lightly beat the eggs then add them to the creamed mixture. Mix well.
  3. Sift the flour, bicarb soda and salt together. Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture. Mix until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips. Drop teaspoonfuls of the dough onto ungreased baking trays about 5cm apart.
  4. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until done.
