These are lovely old fashioned oat biscuits, with an interesting taste provided by a little almond essence.

Serves: 30 

  • 1 cup (150g) packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (110g) white sugar
  • 170g butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup (65ml) water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond essence
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda
  • 1 cup (125g) plain flour
  • 3 cups (450g) rolled oats

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:14min  ›  Extra time:8hours chilling  ›  Ready in:8hours29min 

  1. Combine all ingredients in order given. Refrigerate dough for several hours or overnight to get a thick consistency.
  2. Drop by rounded teaspoonful onto lightly greased baking tray. Bake at 180 degrees C for 12-14 minutes. Let stand 1 minute before removing from baking tray.
