Saltless Seasoning

    For people on a salt-free diet, or just trying to cut down, try making this mix and keeping it in a salt shaker on the table. It's excellent!

    Serves: 30 

    • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    • 1 dessertspoon dried basil
    • 1 dessertspoon onion powder
    • 1 dessertspoon dried sage
    • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
    • 1 dessertspoon allspice
    • 1 dessertspoon dried thyme
    • 1 dessertspoon dried parsley
    • 1 dessertspoon dried marjoram
    • 1 dessertspoon ground black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon paprika

    Preparation:5min  ›  Extra time:1day resting  ›  Ready in:1day5min 

    1. Crush or grind all the ingredients together using a coffee or spice grinder, or a mortar and pestle. Let stand at least overnight before using. Keep this mixture in an airtight container.

    this was ok. Nothing special in my book, so maybe others would want to halve the recipe the first time they make it so as to not have a lot of spices go to waste if you don't really enjoy it.  -  29 Sep 2008
