Fried Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich (Elvis Style)

    8 minutes

This goes without saying, this is trashy and fatty, but very, very good! I find that cut up bananas work better than mashed, and white bread better than brown. This was given to me by my mum.

    5 people made this

    Serves: 1

    • 2 slices of thick toasted white or brown bread
    • butter
    • peanut butter to spread
    • 1 banana, mashed

    Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:3min  ›  Ready in:8min

    1. Spread butter on both sides of the toasted bread then spread peanut butter on one side of toast.
    2. Spread the mashed banana on the other side and sandwich the two pieces of bread together.
    3. Heat some butter in a frypan and fry the sandwich on both sides until brown, adding more butter as needed.
    4. Cut diagonally and serve.

I sliced the bananas lengthwise, added fried bacon and put the whole thing in a sandwich press for toasting. Topped with maple syrup this is wicked! God bless you Elvis!  -  05 May 2013

This is a healthy sandwich that I have made many times. Bananas and peanut butter may seem odd to someone who's never tried it but they really taste good together. A real Elvis sandwich also has bacon and a little honey. But this version is also good and healthier.  -  05 May 2013
