    Molasses and oats make this simple bread machine-bread dark and rich. It's perfect for toasting and for snacking as it is.

    Serves: 12 

    • 1 tablespoon butter
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/3 cup (85ml) dark molasses
    • 2 teaspoons white sugar
    • 1 1/4 cups (320ml) warm water
    • 1 1/2 tablespoons milk powder
    • 1/2 cup (60g) rolled oats
    • 3 1/2 cups (425g) bread flour
    • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
    • 1/4 cup (30g) rolled oats, extra

    1. Place all ingredients except 1/4 cup rolled oats in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select White Bread cycle, light crust; press Start.
    2. If your machine has a Fruit setting add the extra oats at the signal or about 5 minutes before the kneading cycle has finished.
