Smoked Mackerel Dip

    2 hours 20 minutes

This is a delicious spread that goes well on toasted bread as a party snack. You could also use smoked salmon if you can't find mackerel.

    3 people made this

    Serves: 12

    • 500g smoked mackerel
    • 125g cream cheese
    • 125g softened butter
    • 1 lemon, juiced

    1. Remove any skin and bones from the mackerel and place into the bowl of a food processor. Pulse until no large pieces remain.
    2. Add the cream cheese, butter and lemon juice; process until smooth. Place into a small serving bowl and refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours.

Danke! Thank you for sharing this recipe! My guests and I loved it. Even kids who are picky eaters and don't like fish enjoyed it. I used about half the butter because I was running low and it was still prefect. Great on water biscuits, Truiscuts and melba toast.  -  08 Feb 2009  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

I was very pleased with this recipe. Everyone loved it, including my children ages 2-10. I used a 15oz can of Mackerel and it was so simple!  -  15 May 2009  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

We make this ALL THE TIME. The only difference is that my wife doesn't much care for smoked meats and fish, so we use the canned mackerel. Very addictive. Always the first food to disappear at parties.  -  21 Dec 2016  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
