This recipe is for delicious light deep fried biscuits made with a creamy dough. It's a Czech recipe, originally called 'listy.'

    Ingredients
    Serves: 24

    • 3 egg yolks
    • 1 cup egg whites
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 2 tablespoons white sugar
    • 2 teaspoons light cream
    • 1 1/2 cups (185g) plain flour
    • 2 tablespoons icing sugar
    • 1 cup (250ml) vegetable oil for frying

    Directions
    Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:50min

    1. Mix together egg yolks, egg white, salt, sugar and cream. Gradually stir in flour until dough becomes stiff enough to roll out.
    2. Roll out paper thin and cut into triangles.
    3. Put enough oil in a pot to cover a biscuit. Heat oil until a small amount of dough placed in oil begins to fry. Deep fry each biscuit in hot oil until light brown. Remove biscuit from oil and drain excess oil on paper towels. Sprinkle with icing sugar.

Thanks for the recipe! I never did get my Babi's recipe. When I thought of asking her how to make this, strudel, etc., she got sick. My memories of helping sprinkle the powdered sugar with her at Christmas will live on. Much appreciated!  -  17 Oct 2009  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
