A great way to barbecue a prawn. You can add vegetables to the skewers as well - onions, capsicums and mushrooms are perfect.

Serves: 3

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1/3 cup (85ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dry white wine
  • 2 tablespoons Italian-style salad dressing
  • 500g large prawns, peeled and deveined with tails attached
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 65g butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 skewers

  1. In a large bowl mix together garlic powder, black pepper, 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce, wine and salad dressing; add prawns and toss to coat. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  2. Preheat barbecue for high heat. Thread prawns onto skewers, piercing once near the tail and once near the head. Discard marinade.
  3. In a small bowl stir together honey, melted butter and remaining 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce. Set aside for basting.
  4. Lightly oil grate. Barbecue prawns for 2 to 3 minutes per side or until opaque. Baste occasionally with the honey-butter sauce while cooking.

Can I marinade this overnight? - 25 Jan 2014

We enjoyed this marinade because it enhances the flavor of the shrimp by added great flavor without overpowering it. I wouldn’t change a thing. - 03 May 2013

If you marinate shrimp to long they can tend to 'cook' which changes their texture and makes them a bit tough. - 29 Jan 2014
