This lovely oat bread recipe is especially good when it is hot and fresh, just plain - but even better with a little butter and honey.


Serves: 15 

  • 3 1/3 cups (420g) plain flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup oat bran
  • 2 tablespoons powdered milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/8 cups (280ml) buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:3hours  ›  Ready in:3hours15min 

  1. Place the ingredients into the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select the setting for white bread. Press Start.

Yummy bread. Only change I made was to use coconut sugar instead of honey. Will use this recipe again, oats made it interesting plus the egg and powdered milk increased protein content, important in my diet. - 23 Dec 2013
