Caraway Seed Cake
Caraway seed cakes are originally from Britain and have a very distinctive flavour and texture. Try it and see what you think - I love it!
Ingredients

- 1 tablespoon butter, softened
- 125g butter, softened
- 2 1/2 cups (300g) plain flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- salt to taste
- 3/4 cup (185g) white sugar
- 1 tablespoon caraway seed
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup (125ml) milk

- Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease and flour the bottom and sides of a 20cm round cake tin with 1 tablespoon softened butter.
- Sift together flour, salt and baking powder.
- Cream 125g butter and sugar together. Mix in caraway seeds and egg. Add flour mixture and milk, beating well. Pat batter into prepared cake pan.
- Bake for about 45 minutes or until a knife inserted into the centre comes out clean. Cool.
