This is a lovely and simple homemade chilli con carne recipe. You can adjust the amount of chilli powder to your own particular taste. Serve with bread.

Serves: 6 

  • 500g beef mince
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (410g) tin stewed tomatoes
  • 400g tomato pasta sauce
  • 1 (400g) tin kidney beans
  • 1 1/2 cups (375ml) water
  • 1 pinch chilli powder
  • 1 pinch garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat combine the beef and onion and saute until meat is browned and onion is tender. Add the tomatoes with juice, tomato pasta sauce, beans and water.
  2. Season with the chilli powder, garlic powder, salt and ground black pepper to taste. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover and let simmer for 15 minutes.
