This is a great way to improve cooked ham on the barbecue, by basting it with a warm, zesty sauce while grilling. Smoked turkey slices may be substituted for ham.

    Serves: 4

    • 1 cup (185g) packed brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup lemon juice
    • 1/3 cup horseradish
    • 2 thick slices ham

    1. Preheat the barbecue for high heat and lightly oil grate.
    2. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, lemon juice and horseradish.
    3. Heat the brown sugar mixture in the microwave on high heat 1 minute, or until warm.
    4. Score both sides of ham slices. Place on the prepared barbecue. Baste continuously with the brown sugar mixture while cooking. Barbecue 6 to 8 minutes per side, or to desired doneness.
