Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease a muffin pan or line with paper muffin cups.
In a large bowl sift together flour, baking powder, bicarb soda and salt. Stir in the oats, milk, sugar, egg whites, butter, apple sauce and dates; mix just to combine. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups.
Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into a muffin comes out clean.
