A great mix of celeriac, potatoes, bacon and cream. The bacon is optional so this dish could be suitable for vegetarians. Can be a main or veggie side dish.


Serves: 6 

  • 250g bacon rashers
  • 600g celeriac, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 500g potatoes, peeled and sliced approx 2mm thick.
  • 250g grated cheddar cheese
  • 300ml cream
  • 1 sprig rosemary

Preparation:25min  ›  Cook:40min  ›  Extra time:10min  ›  Ready in:1hour15min 

  1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees C. Grill bacon for 10 mins then cut into thin strips.
  2. Interleave the celeriac, potatoes and a third of the grated cheese in an ovenproof dish. Lay most of the bacon (you need to keep some for garnishing) on top and pour over cream. Sprinkle the rest of the cheese over the top and add rosemary.
  3. Place in the centre of the preheated oven for 40 minutes. When cooked garnish with bacon and serve.
