Basil Chilli Olive Oil

    This basil and chilli infused olive oil is perfect for dipping dinner bread. You can add more chilli flakes if you like it more powerful.

    Serves: 25 

    • 2 cups (500ml) good quality extra virgin olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
    • small handful chopped fresh basil
    • 1/2 teaspoon coarse sea salt
    • 1 pinch chilli flakes

    Preparation:5min  ›  Ready in:5min 

    1. In a medium bowl or jug, mix together olive oil, coarsely ground black pepper, basil, coarse sea salt and chilli flakes. Allow to stand for approximately 1 hour before serving.

    Used different ingredients. Loved this dipping oil with crusty hot bread. I did, however, cut the oil in half and added freshly grated parmesan cheese. The fresh basil is a must and added great flavour.  -  29 Sep 2008


    Delicious! Use a good quality olive oil. Also, added some fresh grated parmesan reggiano on top.  -  29 Sep 2008


    Makes a lovely flavoured olive oil for cooking with but I would not try this recipe again for a bread dip. It was so thick and oily and lacked flavour, I didn't even serve it to my guests. But as I said before, a nice recipe for a flavoured oil.  -  29 Sep 2008
