This chocolate chip cookie recipe only makes twelve cookies but you can easily double or triple it. You can also use it to make bars, just press the dough into a small baking tray.

Makes: 12 cookies

  • 125g margarine
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 1/8 cups plain flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. In a mixing bowl cream together margarine, brown sugar and white sugar. Stir in the egg and vanilla. In a separate bowl combine the flour, bicarb soda and salt then stir into the batter until evenly moistened.
  3. Stir in the walnuts and chocolate chips. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto ungreased baking trays.
  4. Bake for 8 minutes in the preheated oven until the edges are light brown.
