Easy Creamy Mushroom Sauce

This is a quick and easy mushroom sauce that contains cream, white wine, chicken stock and Italian herb mix, it is ideal on top of pasta or a steak.


Serves: 8 

  • 65g butter
  • 1 (125g) jar mushrooms, drained
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) white wine
  • 2 teaspoons Italian herb mix
  • 1 cup (250ml) chicken stock
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) thickened cream

  1. Melt the butter in a frypan over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and cook until browned.
  2. Mix in flour, Italian herb mix and salt until smooth.
  3. Gradually stir in wine and chicken stock so that no lumps form and bring to a simmer.
  4. Whisk together the egg and cream then stir into the sauce.
  5. Heat through until thickened but do not allow it to boil.
