    I use the bread machine to do all the mixing and the first rise as part of the dough cycle then make the loaf and bake it in the oven.

    Serves: 12 

    • 1/2 cup (125ml) milk
    • 1 egg
    • 1/4 cup (60ml) honey
    • 1/4 cup stewed apples
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 3 cups (374g) bread flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
    • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

    1. Place ingredients into the pan of your bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select the Dough cycle and press Start.
    2. When the bread machine indicates that the cycle has ended, remove the dough and knead slightly. Form into a loaf shape and place into a greased loaf bread tin.
    3. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size; about 45 minutes.
    4. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.
    5. Uncover the loaf and brush the top with water. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven or until nicely browned and the loaf makes a hollow sound when tapped on the bottom.
    6. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before removing from the tin. Cool for about 1 hour before slicing.
