Quick Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is a simple but tasty recipe for classic chocolate chip cookies. The kids will love them served with a glass of cold milk.


Serves: 18 

  • 125g butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup (50g) packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup (70g) white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons hot water
  • 1 1/4 cups (150g) plain flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (190g) dark chocolate chips

  1. Beat butter, brown sugar, white sugar and egg until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Beat in hot water and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour, bicarb soda and salt until well blended and smooth. Stir in chocolate chips.
  2. Drop dough by well-rounded teaspoons onto greased baking trays. Bake at 190 degrees C for 10 minute or until golden. Cool baking tray on a wire rack for 1 minute then remove biscuits to a rack to cool completely.
