    This is a great almond flavoured custard designed to be used as a cake filling but I have also used it hot on some desserts.

    Serves: 12 

    • 1/2 cup non-fat dry milk powder
    • 2 tablespoons cornflour
    • 3/4 cup (90g) white sugar
    • 1 1/2 cups (375ml) water
    • 4 egg yolks, whisked
    • 1 teaspoon almond essence

    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:25min 

    1. Mix non-fat dry milk, cornflour and sugar together in a medium sized saucepan.
    2. Stir in a mixture of water and egg yolks gradually until smooth.
    3. Cook and stir over medium heat until thick and smooth. Continue to cook while stirring over low heat for one minute longer.
    4. Remove from heat and stir in almond essence. Allow custard to cool before using.
