Popular in Hawaii this raw tuna salad contains spring onions, seaweed and macadamia nuts. Served in a lettuce leaf it makes an ideal entree.


Serves: 4 

  • 500g very fresh tuna, cut into 1cm cubes
  • 1/4 cup finely diced onion
  • 1/4 cup finely diced spring onion
  • 1 teaspoon finely diced fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons lightly crumbled wakame seaweed
  • 1 tablespoon ground roasted macadamia nuts
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons crushed chilli flakes
  • 8 leaves iceberg lettuce
  • 2 tablespoons coriander leaves, for garnish

Preparation:20min  ›  Extra time:1hour chilling  ›  Ready in:1hour20min 

  1. Mix together the tuna, onion, spring onion, ginger, seaweed, macadamia nuts, sesame oil and chilli flakes in a mixing bowl.
  2. Cover and refrigerate at least one hour for the flavours to come together.
  3. Arrange the lettuce leaves on a serving platter then spoon the tuna on top and garnish with the coriander.
