All Shapes Butter Biscuits

These biscuits are so easy to make they're a great project for cooking with children, especially if you have an assortment of biscuit cutters.


Serves: 60 

  • 125g butter
  • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 200g plain flour
  • Topping
  • 1 egg yolk
  • milk
  • caster sugar

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:1hour chilling  ›  Ready in:1hour25min 

  1. For the biscuits: Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Mix in egg yolk and knead in flour to form a smooth dough. Wrap and chill for 1 hour.
  2. Grease a baking tray. Roll out dough on a floured surface and cut out shapes of your choice. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking tray.
  3. Preheat oven to 180 C and bake in preheated oven 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden.
  4. Topping: Mix egg yolk with a little milk; brush over biscuits and sprinkle with sugar.
