Fried Skinless Sausages

You might know these Balkan sausages as Ćevapčići. They're very easy to make and taste delicious. They are traditionally served with flatbread, chopped onion, relish and sour cream.


Serves: 4 

  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 500g beef mince (or 250g beef mince and 250g lamb or pork mince)
  • salt and pepper
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon tomato puree
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • oil for frying

  1. Mix together onions, garlic, egg and mince. Season with salt, pepper, parsley, tomato puree, mustard and cayenne. Mix well. Shape meat into finger-thick sausages and roll in flour.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry Ćevapčići on each side for about 5-6 minutes. They should be nicely browned on the outside and juicy on the inside. You can also cook these on a BBQ.
