Poached Pears with Blue Cheese and Bacon

These are an unusual and very successful combination of flavours. Poached pears are filled with blue cheese and wrapped in bacon before being grilled.


Serves: 4 

  • 4 firm pears
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 400g blue cheese
  • 16 rashers rindless bacon

Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:35min 

  1. Preheat grill.
  2. Bring a pot with water to the boil with the lemon juice and cinnamon stick.
  3. Peel pears, halve and core. Place pears immediately into boiling water and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Mash blue cheese with a fork. Place pears in ovenproof dish and fill with blue cheese. Wrap each pear half with two slices of bacon.
  5. Grill until the bacon is crisp.
