Lace Oat Biscuits

These are a simple oat biscuit that create a lace type appearance when cooked. My kids love to help cook these then we eat them for afternoon out the back with cordial.


Makes: 60 

  • 250g butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup (220g) caster sugar
  • 1 1/3 cup (200g) dark brown soft sugar
  • 1/2 cup (60g) plain flour
  • 1 pinch salt, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 large egg or 2 small eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup (220g) porridge oats
  • 1 dash vanilla essence

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:25min 

  1. Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy. Gradually stir in remaining ingredients until well incorporated.
  2. Preheat oven to 180 degree C. Grease two non-stick baking trays.
  3. Form small balls of 2-3cm diameter using a spoon or your hands.
  4. Place on prepared baking tray leaving plenty of room between them to spread.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes depending on the size.
  6. Allow to cool slightly then gently lift them off the tray with a spatula. Leave to cool and harden completely on a wire rack.
