Easy Plain Biscuits

    These are a great plain biscuit that are a easy to make. This is the recipe I use when cooking with kids or want to do some cool decorations.

    Makes: 80 biscuits

    • 4 cups (500g) plain flour
    • 250g butter, softened
    • 1 1/4 cups (250g) caster sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 lemon, zested

    Preparation:25min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Extra time:2hours chilling  ›  Ready in:2hours40min 

    1. Work all the ingredients into a dough and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill for 2 hours.
    2. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
    3. Roll dough out thinly on a floured surface. Cut out into desired shapes.
    4. Bake in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes (after the first tray, the baking time is shorter).
    5. Let cool and decorate, if desired.

    This recipe made a lot of biscuits. Yes, they are plain though - best iced and decorated. I replaced the lemon with orange which was nice.  -  10 Jul 2011
