Apple, Walnut and Cinnamon Cake

A sponge base is flavoured with apples, walnuts and cinnamon to create this great cake that is perfect to cut into thick slices and enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee.


Serves: 16 

  • 200g butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups (250g) caster sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups (300g) plain flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 100g chopped walnuts
  • 500g apples, peeled and finely diced

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease a loaf cake tin.
  2. Cream butter, sugar and eggs with hand blender until creamy.
  3. Mix together flour, cinnamon and baking powder.
  4. Add to batter. Fold in chopped walnuts and apples.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared cake tin and bake for about 60 minutes.
