Oven Poached Cinnamon Apples

Cored apples dusted in cinnamon are oven poached in apple juice to create a moist baked apple. Serve with the poaching liquid.


Serves: 4 

  • 4 large apples, washed, patted dry and core removed
  • 1/2 cup (125g) caster sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup (250ml) apple juice

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. Place apples in a small glass baking dish. Mix together sugar and cinnamon then sprinkle on apples, inside and out.
  3. Pour enough apple juice into the baking dish so that apples are sitting in 1-2cm juice.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for about 45-55 minutes, basting every 15 minutes.
  5. They are done when tender (test with a sharp knife). Serve with the hot apple juice.
