Tofu with Sesame and Szechuan Sauce

Tofu is blanched then a homemade sauce made form sesame oil, tahini and diced Szechuan mustard tuber is poured over the top to serve.


Serves: 2 

  • 150g silken tofu, cut into 1.5cm cubes
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons sesame seed paste (tahini)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 50g tinned Szechuan mustard tuber, finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  1. Blanch the tofu for 1 minute and drain. Transfer tofu to a serving plate. Set aside.
  2. Make the sauce by mixing together the sesame seed paste and sesame oil in a bowl.
  3. Add the salt, finely dice Szechuan mustard tuber and sugar; mix well.
  4. Pour the sauce over the tofu and lightly toss. Serve.


Tinned Sichuan mustard tuber can be purchased in Asian speciality shops or online.
