This is a simple and interesting dessert, very creamy and thick. Orange juice is heated with cornflour and butter and then chilled. Add some orange zest to the mixture for extra zing.

Serves: 4

  • 2-3 oranges, juiced
  • 5 tablespoons cornflour
  • 60g butter

Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Extra time:1hour chilling  ›  Ready in:1hour25min

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan.
  2. Add the cornflour and stir with a wooden spoon.
  3. Cook over medium heat. Gradually add the orange juice.
  4. Stir and cook until thick.
  5. Pour into small ramekins or in a bowl and chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

I haven't tried it either, but guess the amount of cornflour reflects how thick you want the finished product. - 17 Jun 2013

I haven't made this yet but it seems like an awful lot of cornflour for such a small amount of liquid - should it be 5 teaspoons rather than tablespoons??? - 16 Jul 2012
