In a bowl, add the cornflour with a little bit of water and stir thoroughly. Mix in the egg and stir well.
Over medium heat, heat the oil in a frying pan to medium high. Dip the apple chunks in the egg-cornflour paste and place them into the hot pan. Fry for 3 minutes. Remove the apple chunks with a slotted spoon and set aside on a plate.
In a clean frying pan, add the sugar, oil and a little bit of water. Melt the sugar over medium-low heat. When the sugar turns light golden and starts to bubble, add the apple chunks. Toss to make sure they are evenly coated with caramel. Place the caramel apples into a large serving dish. Immediately use a pair of chopsticks to separate the apple chunks and you will get the sugar threads.
Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the caramel apple chunks. Serve immediately or the apple chunks will stick together.
