Stir Fried Pork with Capsicum

    Pork is coated with a mix of seasonings and pan-fried until crisp, then stir fried with chillies, onions and capsium. A wonderful dish to share. Serve with freshly cooked rice.

    Serves: 4 

    • 450g boneless pork chops, pounded evenly and cut into large pieces
    • 1/4 teaspoon Chinese five spice
    • 1 teaspoon garlic granules
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon white pepper
    • 1 large egg, beaten
    • 2 teaspoons cornflour
    • 1/2 cup (125ml) oil, for frying
    • 1/2 tablespoon finely chopped red chillies
    • 3 tablespoons finely chopped garlic
    • 1 medium onion, diced
    • 1/3 teaspoon salt
    • 1 green capsicum, diced (optional)
    • 1 teaspoon white pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt

    1. In a small bowl, mix together the five spice, garlic granules, salt and white pepper. Use to season the pork. Let sit for 5 minutes.
    2. Coat the pork pieces in egg, then dip into cornflour. Set on a plate and chill for 10 minutes.
    3. Heat a large frying pan with 1/2 cup oil over high heat. Pan-fry the pork until crisp, 2-3 minutes. Reduce the heat to medium and continue to cook until done, 2-3 minutes. Set aside, leaving 2 teaspoons oil in the pan.
    4. Heat the pan over high heat and stir fry the chillies and garlic until fragrant, 2-3 minutes. Stir in the onion and salt, cook until soft, 2-3 minutes.
    5. Add the green capsicum and pepper, stir until the mixture is dry. Add the pork, seasoned salt and mix well. Serve.
