Dried tofu, sometimes called pressed tofu or savoury tofu, is delicious stir fried with celery, spring onions, and ginger. Serve with rice.


Serves: 3 

  • 500g celery (about 6 stalks), cut into 4cm lengths, leaves discarded
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 spring onion, cut into 2.5cm pieces
  • 1 (1.5cm) piece ginger, thinly sliced
  • 250g flavoured dried tofu, rinsed and cut into thin strips
  • soy sauce to taste
  • 1 pinch salt or to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon chicken stock powder

  1. Bring a large pot of water to the boil with a little salt and oil. Blanch the celery in the water for 30 seconds, drain and set aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a wok or large frypan over high heat. Add the spring onion and ginger and stir fry until fragrant. Add the tofu and soy sauce; stir fry for 1 minute.
  3. Add the celery and a pinch of salt and stir fry for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle with the chicken stock powder and toss. Serve.
