Beef and Capsicum Stir Fry

    Beef steak is perfect stir fried with green capsicum, onions and char siu sauce. This is very quick to make and satisfying served with white rice.

    Serves: 4 

    • 450g beef steak, chopped into 1.5cm cubes
    • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
    • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon cornflour
    • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon soy sauce
    • 2 tablespoon oil, divided
    • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
    • 1 small eschallot, sliced
    • 1 medium onion, diced
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 medium green capsicum, diced
    • 2 tablespoons Chinese barbecue sauce (char siu sauce)
    • 1/2 tablespoon oyster sauce

    1. Sprinkle the steak with white pepper and sugar, toss to coat and let sit for 15 minutes.
    2. Sprinkle the salt, cornflour and soy sauce onto the steak. Stir to mix.
    3. Heat a large frying pan with 1 tablespoon oil over high heat. Stir fry the garlic and eschallot until fragrant, 2-3 minutes. Add the steak and stir-fry until evenly browned, about 3-4 minutes. Add the soy sauce, stir and set aside.
    4. Heat the same frying pan with 1 tablespoon oil over high heat. Stir fry the onion and salt until soft, 3-4 minutes. Add the green capsicum and stir fry for 1 minute. Stir in the barbecue sauce, oyster sauce and steak. Serve.
