These deep fried fritters can be served with just salt and vinegar or with a sour cream dip. A great starter for any meal, also great with yoghurt.
300ml good quality beer
450g self-raising flour
oil for deep frying
12 cooked beetroot wedges (2cm thick)
salt and black pepper, to season beetroot
- Pour the beer into a bowl, add the flour and pinch of salt and mix well until the batter is smooth and really thick.
- Preheat oil 180 degrees C.
- Season the wedges with the salt and pepper, then dust with a little flour.
- Coat the wedges with the batter and deep fry for around 4-5 minutes untill golden brown and crispy, remove and sprinkle lightly with salt then serve with any dip you like.
