Basic Ginger Beef

    This is a classic easy stir fry which you can serve over white rice or noodles. Also works with pork.

    Serves: 4 

    • 300g beef, sliced
    • salt and pepper, to taste
    • 1 teaspoon cornflour
    • oil, for cooking
    • 3 1/2 cm ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
    • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
    • 1 tablespoon Chinese thick caramel sauce
    • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
    • 1 teaspoon chilli sauce
    • 3 spring onions, ends removed and cut into half

    1. Marinate the sliced beef with salt, pepper and cornflour.
    2. Heat the oil and fry the ginger slices until fragrant. Remove the ginger. Add the garlic and stir-fry.
    3. Add the beef and stir-fry until well combined. Season and lastly add the spring onions and cook until slightly wilted and beef is cooked.
