This is a really quick way to cook beef that has been thinly sliced and marinated, in Korea it is known as 'Saesongiee Kogi Bukeum'.


Serves: 4 

  • 500g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 oyster mushrooms or pine mushrooms, sliced 2cm thick
  • 2 spring onions, diced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) pineapple juice
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 3 teaspoons crushed garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  1. In a mixing bowl add the sliced beef and pour over the pineapple juice.
  2. Combine soy sauce, 3 tablespoons sugar, garlic, black pepper and sesame seeds in a small bowl; mix well.
  3. Pour the soy sauce mixture over beef and marinated at least 3 hours.
  4. Preheat a frypan on high heat then sauté the marinated beef until it is half way cooked. Add the onion, mushrooms, salt and remaining sugar.
  5. Cook the beef for about 5 minutes. Place the beef on a plate and sprinkle diced spring onions.
