Sauteed Garlic Water Spinach

This common Thai vegetable side dish is known as 'Pad Pak Boong' I use it as part of a meal when my vegetarian friends come over and they love it.


Serves: 4 

  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • one handful water spinach, cut into finger lengths
  • 2 tablespoons yellow bean paste (aka yellow soy bean paste)
  • 1 pinch ground white pepper, to taste

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Ready in:15min 

  1. Fry the garlic in a hot wok until fragrant and browned.
  2. Add the water spinach and quickly fry for 5 seconds. Add the yellow bean paste then cook until hot.
  3. To serve place on a plate and garnish with the white pepper.
