    This is a typical Korean side dish known as 'Kongjaban' which is simply black beans stewed and flavoured with soy sauce and sesame oil.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 

    • 1 cup dried black beans
    • 2 cups (500ml) water
    • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
    • 5 tablespoons caster sugar
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds
    • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil

    1. Clean the black beans and cook in a pressure cooker with water for 20 minutes over the medium heat then drain in a colander.
    2. Combine soy sauce, sugar and salt in a medium saucepan. Cook until the sugar dissolves; about 5 minutes.
    3. Add the black beans and cook another 7 minutes and turn off the heat. Add the sesame seeds and sesame oil then mix well.
