This coconut milk based prawn and cabbage curry comes from Malaysia where it is known as 'Kobis Masak Putih'.


Serves: 4 

  • 3 cups (750ml) coconut milk
  • 2 cups (500ml) water
  • 6 shallots, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, thinly sliced
  • 5 red chillies, sliced
  • 300g cabbage, cut into 2cm pieces
  • 300g small prawns, shelled and deveined
  • 1 pinch salt and white pepper, to taste
  • 1 spring onion, diced

  1. Put coconut milk and water in a saucepan then add the shallots, garlic and red chillies; bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and add cabbage then simmer until cabbage is soft. When the cabbage is soft add the prawns; stir and check for seasonings. Put salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Simmer and cook until it starts to boil. Remove from heat and garnish with the springs onions to serve.
