This is a very quick and easy way to cook baby octopus that creates an incredibly tasty dish that can be serves with steamed rice.


Serves: 8 

  • 2 cups (500ml) oil for deep frying
  • 500g baby octopus, patted dry with paper towel
  • 1 cup (250ml) sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:25min 

  1. In a large wok heat the oil until smoking hot.
  2. Deep fry the baby squid until golden and drain on paper towel.
  3. Drain all but 2 tablespoons of oil from the wok. Heat the oil again then add the remaining ingredients. Stir well to combine.
  4. Return the fried squid to the wok and stir fry until they caramelise and become crispy.
