Pork and Chinese Bitter Melon Sauté

If you like Chinese bitter melon then this Filipino dish that includes pork fillet, prawns and tomato will be something you enjoy.


Serves: 5 

  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 225g pork fillet, cut into small cubes
  • 225g prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 1 large tomato, diced
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 Chinese bitter melon, seeds removed, sliced

  1. Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil.
  2. Add pork, mix well. When pork is no longer pink add prawns and let cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add tomato, salt and pepper to taste. Cook another 5 minutes.
  4. Add the Chinese bitter melon. Cook 5 minutes or until bitter melon is soft to the touch. Serve with rice.
