    1 hour 30 minutes

A tender beef steak is thinly sliced and marinated with soy sauce and lemon juice for at least an hour before being stir fried and served with fried onions.

Be the first to make this!

    Serves: 6

    • 2kg prime rib steak
    • 1 lemon, juiced
    • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
    • 1 pinch salt and pepper, to taste
    • 1 teaspoon sugar
    • 1 tablespoon cornflour
    • 65ml vegetable oil for frying
    • 3 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 medium onion, sliced
    • 2 cloves garlic, diced

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Extra time:1hour marinating  ›  Ready in:1hour30min

    1. Slice the beef into 3 chunks. Slice chunks across the grain to make thin pieces. Place in a mixing bowl.
    2. Squeeze lemon juice over the steak then add soy sauce, sugar, salt, pepper and sprinkle with cornflour. Mix completely and marinate 1 hour or longer.
    3. In a large frying pan heat vegetable oil. In batches fry the meat on both sides until cooked to your preference. Set aside on a serving platter.
    4. Saute onion and garlic in olive oil until onion is golden and translucent. Pour over the meat. Serve hot.

It was easy to make - and really tasty. Served with rice and french beans. The only suggestion I can make is I would cut back a tiny bit on the lemon juice (I had a pretty large lemon - maybe a smaller one would work better) Definitely will make it again.  -  10 Feb 2019  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

I baked this instead of putting it in oil. It was good but the meat was rally tough.  -  23 Jan 2019  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
