Braising beef is a really nice way to cook steak when you are looking for something a little bit different to frying.


Serves: 4 

  • 500g onions, peeled and finely sliced
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 4 slices rump steaks (180g each)
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper, to taste
  • 125ml white wine
  • 1 dash worcestershire sauce, to taste

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:35min  ›  Ready in:45min 

  1. Season with salt and pepper then cover with the onions and pour wine over them.
  2. Cover and braise for 20 minutes. Season with Worcester sauce to serve.
  3. Heat the oil in a large frying pan then fry the onions for 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  4. Cut into the fatty edge of the rump steaks several times and dip in flour. Fry in the same pan as the onions until brown.
