Citrus and Banana Smoothie

    This is a great banana smoothie with a little bit of citrus in the form of lemon and orange to give it some bight.

    Serves: 4 

    • 1 ripe banana, sliced
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
    • 1 lemon, juiced
    • 1 orange, juiced
    • 3 cups (750ml) milk
    • 1 pinch sugar, to taste

    1. Puree the pieces of banana, vanilla, lemon and orange juice with some of the milk.
    2. Add the remaining milk and purée again.
    3. Add sugar, puree again then serve immediately.

    I skipped the vanilla extract and added a good dollop of vanilla Greek yogurt, since I like the creaminess that brings to a smoothie. Used a frozen banana and added crushed ice, since we prefer a consistency a little on the thick side. Particularly like the addition of the fresh lemon and orange juices in this smoothie.
