Easy Cornbread

    This is an easy recipe for cornbread that uses a combination of polenta (corn meal) and flour to create yeast-free bread ideal as an accompaniment to chilli and American style BBQ.

    Serves: 6 

    • 3/4 cup (90g) plain flour
    • 100g polenta (corn meal)
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 4 tablespoons oil
    • 100g sour cream
    • 100ml milk
    • 1 egg

    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:25min  ›  Ready in:35min 

    1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes. Cut into small squares and serve.
    2. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C and grease a tin; about 18cm square.
    3. Quickly mix all ingredients into a mixture; don't over mix. Place into the prepared tin.
