I love firing up the barbecue for these sweet prawn and pineapple kebabs. Serve with your favourite salad to make a meal out of them.


Serves: 4 

  • 100ml orange juice
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 pinch salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 500g large prawns
  • 350g fresh pineapple, diced

  1. Mix orange juice, lime juice, brown sugar, spices, salt and pepper. Mix with the prawns in a sealable container and marinate overnight.
  2. Remove the prawns from the marinade. Put them onto skewers alternating with the pineapple chunks.
  3. Barbecue or bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes until the prawns are pink and the pineapple browned; turn once during cooking and brush with the marinade several times.
