This is a fun cake to make with kids as the Fanta bubbles up creating a lot of excitement. It is also a tasting great cake to eat.


Serves: 1 

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 3/4 (400g) caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 200ml sunflower oil
  • 200ml orange Fanta(TM)
  • 3 1/4 (400g) plain flour
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 150g chocolate icing

Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:40min  ›  Ready in:1hour 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C and line a deep 20x30cm baking tin with baking paper.
  2. Whisk the eggs, sugar and vanilla until fluffy. Then stir in the sunflower oil and gradually stir in the Fanta. It will fizz quite a bit.
  3. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt. Stir the dry mixture into the wet mixture gradually.
  4. Spread the batter mixture over the bottom of the prepared baking tin.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Reduce to 160 degrees C and bake for another 20 minutes.
  6. When cool spread with chocolate icing (shop bought or make your own). Cut into small squares.
