This is a Turkish appetiser or meze know as 'Karnibahar Kizartmasi'. You won't believe how delicious cauliflower can be. It is especially tasty when served with a simple garlic and yoghurt sauce.
1 medium cauliflower
1/2 lemon, juiced
salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
vegetable oil for frying
- Cut cauliflower into florets and wash thoroughly.
- Bring a saucepan of salted water with the lemon juice to the boil and boil the cauliflower in it for 8-10 minutes uncovered until al dente. Drain and dry well on paper towel.
- Whisk eggs with pepper and salt until fluffy. Dip cauliflower into the eggs then roll in breadcrumbs.
- Heat the vegetable oil and fry the cauliflower in it until it is browned on all sides. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on kitchen paper. Serve warm.
