Crumbed Cauliflower

    This is a Turkish appetiser or meze know as 'Karnibahar Kizartmasi'. You won't believe how delicious cauliflower can be. It is especially tasty when served with a simple garlic and yoghurt sauce.

    Serves: 6 

    • 1 medium cauliflower
    • 1/2 lemon, juiced
    • 2 eggs
    • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
    • fresh breadcrumbs
    • vegetable oil for frying

    1. Cut cauliflower into florets and wash thoroughly.
    2. Bring a saucepan of salted water with the lemon juice to the boil and boil the cauliflower in it for 8-10 minutes uncovered until al dente. Drain and dry well on paper towel.
    3. Whisk eggs with pepper and salt until fluffy. Dip cauliflower into the eggs then roll in breadcrumbs.
    4. Heat the vegetable oil and fry the cauliflower in it until it is browned on all sides. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on kitchen paper. Serve warm.
