Easy Arrabbiata Sauce

An easy version of the spicy Italian tomato and chilli pasta sauce. You can double the quantities and freeze some.


Serves: 14 

  • 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 7 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 3 1/2 cups canned tomato passata
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 10 leaves fresh basil

  1. Heat olive oil, add garlic and gently cook until softened. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer over low heat and cook slowly for about 3 hours.
  2. Mix through cooked drained pasta and sprinkle with grated romano or parmesan cheese if liked.
